VCam for Mac: Latest Fixes and Improvements in v2.0.69
We're excited to roll out the latest version of VCam for Mac, just two months after our last update. This release tackles core issues, improves stability, and adds quality of life enhancements, all while expanding the feature set to bring us closer to a full release. Here’s a rundown of all that’s new!
Features & Improvements:
Re-added support for GIF backgrounds
Major improvements with frame handling for improved performance
Improved virtual camera initialization and connection — used by VCam to send a feed to your client apps
Improved handling of backgrounds —
Newly added backgrounds and logos logo will be set as active
Deleting the active background will change the background to “Remove”
Deleting the active logo will change the logo to “None”
Default background or logo is now indicated by a star icon within the thumbnail
Improved the default Workspace selection logic to prioritize paid Workspaces
Content loader is now displayed for backgrounds/logos that are still downloading on a fresh app launch
After installation or update, VCam will now automatically launch
Updated logic for detecting if virtual camera needs updating
Renamed macOS app name from

toVCam
Fixes:
Addressed additional fixes for white screen crashing when connecting/disconnecting to a client
Fixed an issue where the camera feed may change to a different camera when added to a client
Fixed an issue where you could not select “Set as default background/logo” when uploading a new background or logo
Upon login, background/logo will now correctly use the default background or logo
Auto framing settings are now correctly applied on app launch
Camera mixer will now consume the entire container space
Fixed an issue where video backgrounds would not always show
Various bug fixes for low level errors in the virtual camera module
Virtual camera extension updates now require a system reboot to ensure complete installation
Known issues:
The update process leaves a lot to be desired; in-app updating with changelog will be available in a future full release
We are still investigating some cases of the application crashing to a white screen state — please restart the application if this happens
After installation or update, you may see an empty black video feed within your meeting app — please restart both VCam and your client app if this happens
